One of the most intriguing thingabout being a wedding photographer is the traveling part. i can be called upon to travel to cover a client’s wedding anywhere in the world. It is a beautiful feeling because I get to visit new places, witness different cultures and meet beautiful people. It is awesome and one of my favorite wedding favorites. In my more than 32 years’ experience in weddings, I have witnessed and  photograph quite a good number of wedding abroad; from Dubai to Asia, to Europe and the Americas and in famous cities around the world too.

Destination weddings bring a whole new experience for me as a photographer, as I get to witness new cultures, people and sceneries, the experiences differ and the inspiration too.

With the growing popularity of destination weddings, couples now have so many options to choose from; from planning a romantic escape at the beach to saying I do on some fancy island, somewhere in the world, it is no doubt that destination weddings have become the rave of the century and we are here for it all as photographers. Couples are looking for unique experience in exchanging their vows without breaking the bank and most times, it is a one-of-a-kind feeling and adventure for the couple.

Planning a destination wedding can be tasking, especially language barrier, so also covering such weddings. So how have I been able to cope as a wedding photographer? I do the following:

Research:

As soon as papers have been signed by the couple officially making me their wedding photographer, I go and do research about the destination of the wedding. I search Google and other search engine.and learn their language, the basics, search for locations for all the shoots and just generally prepare myself.

Learn about their cultures and traditions regarding weddings and anything I can find about them.

Most times when I go away from familiar soil, I make friends with the locales so as to know the community and their cultures, their thoughts towards lots of things and so on the days of the wedding ceremony, I don’t offend the couple or the guests.
