Christian Weddings

I have had the privilege of covering Christian weddings and I must say I find them fascinating and in my 32 years’ experiencein wedding photography, here is what I can tell you about the traditions:

There is a pre-wedding ceremony event which includes pictures. Immediately after the church service where the bride and groom exchange vows in front of their families and friends, they go outside to take pictures and most times this is not where my work as a photographer starts.

My work as a wedding photographer, on the wedding day starts pretty early, during the preparation of the bride and groom. This usually takes up to 45 minutes or more.

It usually begins sometimes 90 minutes before the start of the church service in some cases and others take 45 minutes after the service, all depends on the couple and the photographer.

Another aspect of work for photographers starts before the church service when the bride and groom and their wedding party is getting dresses for the church wedding.

After the church service comes the reception where the bride and groom hosts their friends, well-wishers, families and guests in attendance. This is usually followed with food and drinking and other activities of the day.

Here, as a wedding photographer, I get really busy, taking pictures of the bride and groom as they transition from their white wedding gown for the brides and tuxedos for the grooms to their reception dresses, which is becoming a trend everywhere in the world.

I also take photos of the reactions of the guests as they eat and make merry and as they watch the bride and groom.

I take pictures of the bride and groom as they take on the dance floor with the first dance, dance with the father of the bride and with their guests.
